What is this app for?
- This application aims to aid in stress reduction by regulating breathing patterns, initially by establishing a consistent rhythm and then by decreasing the respiratory rate.
- To use the app, simply inhale when the water drop ascends and exhale as it descends. Visual cues in the form of vibrations help you maintain the pace even with your eyes closed.
- An accessible menu enables users to specify the duration of each exercise session and set the desired breaths per minute.
Determining your current breathing rate
- You can gauge your current breathing rate by manipulating the movement of the water drop. As you adjust its position, a timer initiates, incrementing the cycle count with each rise and fall of the drop.
- The app is designed to operate in the background. After starting the exercise, you can press the home button to continue with guidance provided through vibration or sound cues.
- Additional relaxation support is offered through a music selection feature.
Optional features:
- The expert mode allows users to define precise inhalation and exhalation times and introduces breath-holding intervals.
- A notification feature can be utilized to schedule exercise reminders.
Note: Some users have reported animation-related issues. To mitigate this problem, ensure that your device is not in power-saving mode and that the "animator duration scale" setting within the developer options menu is configured to 1. This behavior is associated with certain adjustments made in Android Lollipop (Android 5.0 and later).
What is cardiac coherence?
- Derived from neurocardiology research findings, cardiac coherence refers to a reflex phenomenon identified by American researchers over fifteen years ago.
- Scientific evidence showcases a synchronous relationship between the Heart and Brain: Just as our thoughts and emotions impact heart rate, heart rate holds sway over our cognitive processes.
- By managing one's heart rate, individuals are able to regulate emotions effectively, thereby alleviating overall stress levels.
- The direct correlation between controlled respiration and heart rate modulation serves as an effective strategy for achieving this balance.
